NAAKISS Worldwide Honours Accountant General as Patron, Seeks Working Partnership for Students’ Development

National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) Worldwide has decorated the Accountant General of the State, Pst. Uwem Andrew Essien as Patron of the association.

The Accountant General was decorated on Tuesday when the President of the association, Snr. Comr. Aniedi Michael led members of his Executive to a courtesy visit in his office at Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo.

Comr. Michael said Akwa Ibom State Students are always the beneficiaries of Pst. Essien’s generosity right from his days as a lecturer in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

Comr. Michael stressed that meeting with Accountant General is a great chance for open mentorship and divine blessings adding that many students from different Institutions within and outside the state have benefited from his scholarship programmes and education support grant through Multiply Grace Fellowship.

He said the association is much aware of Accountant General’s numerous programmes hosted through Multiply Grace Fellowship for students and youths.

He also appreciated the Accountant General for Bible teachings and personal support to students and less privileged in the society, noting that his rare gestures have uplifted many souls to the way of the Lord which is another bold step to combat social vices degrading the society today.

Comr. Michael also briefed the Accountant General on his achievements which he mentioned, free JAMB preparatory classes in Uyo, first ever students security summit at EEMJM Hotel, Uyo, Campus tour in Tertiary Institutions in Akwa Ibom State, establishment of NAAKISS Worldwide Vegetable Farm among others.

He decried that the association suffers lack of office accommodation for administrative use, lack of vehicle to aid in the supervision, monitoring of projects and day-to-day running of the association activities, lack of funds for execution of the association capital projects as captured in 2020 annual budget of NAAKISS Worldwide, lack of scholarship and bursary for students.

He however appealed for more support from the Accountant General and prayed to God Almighty to continue protecting him for the benefit of Akwa Ibom State Students.

Responding to the honour, the Accountant General of the State, Pst. Uwem Andrew Essien appreciated the Students Leaders for the award bestowed on him and promised not to disappoint the association on the position, but to support the programmes of the association.

The Accountant General said he pays attention to the outward appearance of every Student and encouraged Students to avoid cultism and other social vices that lead to untimely death.

Pst. Andrew Essien noted that he likes supporting people to go to school and sending people for skill acquisition training to develop themselves for better living. “In my place, everyone competes to write JAMB because they are sure of scholarship from Accountant General. So far, 75 Students from my village are benefiting from my Scholarship Progrmame, 34 Students from Multiply Grace Fellowship are benefiting from the same scholarship Progrmame, while 92 apprentices across board are also benefiting from my Skill Acquisition Training programme”.

He however stressed that there is no linear equation in the side of God, noting that commitment, patience and prayers conquer all challenges. “The secret of life is integrity. Leave a straight forward life that someone can defend your accusation. Let your yes be yes and let your no be no”.
