Interdenominational Service: Obot Akara Council Chairman Donates Wrappers to 34 Women

To incorporate women in the celebration of 61st Independence anniversary of Nigeria and 34th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, the Chairman Obot Akara Local Government Council, Hon. (Lady) Agnes Udoenwenwen has donated wrappers to 34 women drawn from different villages across the Local Government Area.

The wrappers were presented to the women on Sunday during the Interdenominational Service to mark 61st Independence anniversary of Nigeria and 34th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State at Methodist Church Nigeria, Abiakpo Ibo, Obot Akara LGA.

Lady Udoenwenwen thanked God for protecting Nigeria from breaking despite the rate of insecurity that raised palpable fear among Nigerians in all part of the country. She stressed that 61st Independence anniversary of Nigeria is worthy to be celebrated, adding that Nigerians are filled with the spirit of resilience which cannot easily be weighed down.

She noted that Akwa Ibom State is blessed with both human and material resources, saying that the state is moving forward and will continue to remain top among comity of States in Nigeria.

Lady Udoenwenwen appreciated His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for providing qualitative, impactful and selfless leadership to Akwa Ibom State, saying that Obot Akara Local Government Area is a great beneficiary of his shared objectives, successful human and capital development and numerous projects and programmes captured in his Completion Agenda.

She urged Obot Akara people to remain good ambassadors of the State and key into the brand new dream of Akwa Ibom state. She however appreciated Stakeholders, Church members, women, youth and children for coming out to grace the service.

Preaching on the topic “The Power of Grace”, Rev. Idorenyin Akpan said grace can lift people up to a position they did not even dream of. Rev. Akpan defined Grace as unmerited favour from God. He said someone may not be the best, but grace can transform someone to success.

He stressed that where money and connections fail, God intervenes through Grace. He drew hid sermon from 1 Samuel 6:7-8 and 1 Timothy 6:6-7. The clergy man encouraged Christians to be contented with what they have and prayed for the progress of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State and Obot Akara LGA.

Rev. Akpan however presented Bible to the Executive Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Council, Lady Agnes Udoenwenwen, Vice Chairman, Mr Uduak Akpan and Council Secretary, Mr. Esau. Others at the event were, Leader of Obot Akara Local Government Council, Hon. Lady Mary Moses Akpana, Councillors, Supervisors traditional rulers, political class, Elders, women, youth groups among others.
