Lots of survey sites pay rewards out in the form of Amazon vouchers, and if you’ve got spare time, it could be a good way to earn a bit of extra cash.

Use search engines

The popular browser plugin Qmee allows you to earn Amazon vouchers simply by searching online as you normally do.
Nothing changes apart from seeing some sponsored ads alongside your search results in Google (plus some other search engines too if you’re one of the hipsters). Each search will typically have a cash reward of around 15p, depending on the topic – so, if you’re interested, click here to find out more about Qmee.
But Qmee isn’t the only way to earn Amazon vouchers just by searching online. One of the many ways to make money with Swagbucks is to set it as your default search engine, and it’s possible to make a few hundred pounds after just six months of regular searching.

Scan your receipts
There are a handful of apps that allow you to earn Amazon vouchers by simply taking a picture of your receipt(s) after you go shopping. You can upload your receipts to more than one app, but you usually need to do so within two weeks of your purchase.
Remember, though, that what you’re doing here is selling your data. Companies use the information from your receipts (and data about yourself such as your gender and age) to see where, when and how you shop, and then tailor their marketing accordingly.
As long as you’re ok with that, here are the best apps for it:
Receipt Hog
Receipt Hog is available on Android and iOS and works on almost all receipts.
For each receipt, you earn either coins or spins. You get coins for receipts from supermarkets, pharmacies, health and beauty shops, pet shops, toy shops and bargain or discount stores.
How many coins you get depends on how much you spend:
- Less than £10: five coins
- £10 – £50: 10 coins
- £50 – £100: 15 coins
- Over £100: 20 coins.
Receipts from clothes, electronics, office supplies, books, sports, arts and crafts, DIY and furniture shops will also get you one spin on the Hog Slots. With each spin you can win bonus coins or prizes such as having your last shopping trip paid for!
You’ll also get one entry into a monthly sweepstake with each receipt where you can win up to 5,000 coins.
When you cash out, 1,000 coins will get you a £3 Amazon voucher, while 2,850 points equal £10, 5,300 coins gets you £20 and 12,000 coins is £50. It takes about five months to earn one £3 Amazon voucher from Receipt Hog, so don’t expect massive earnings.
Shoppix
With Shoppix you get 25 tokens for a receipt from any shop for any amount, and an additional five tokens for submitting it on the same day.
3,200 tokens will get you a £5 Amazon voucher, while 6,000 will get you a £10 one and 11,500 will bag you a £20 voucher.You have to scan around 100 receipts to earn a fiver, give or take. Shoppix is available on iOS and Android – use the code D3RJSOF3 for a bonus 100 points.
HuYu
HuYu is just for supermarket receipts, accepting them from:
- Aldi
- Asda*
- Co-op
- Lidl
- Tesco*
- Morrisons*
- Sainsbury’s*
- Waitrose*.
You have seven days from purchase to upload your receipts, and they accept online shopping receipts from those marked with a * (plus Ocado).
You receive five points for each receipt and can boost your balance by taking surveys, too. How many points you get for each depends on the length of the survey.
Get 500 points and you can cash out for a £5 Amazon voucher.

Carrot Insurance
With Carrot Insurance, you either install a black box in your car or download their clever app and they’ll be able to track your driving.
If you maintain a positive (green) Driving Style Score you’ll earn weekly rewards in the form of Amazon and other high street vouchers. Exactly what you’ll get depends on your level of driving experience and type of insurance policy you go for.
It’s a great way to earn rewards while driving but we’d recommend doing your research first. There’s no point in paying through the nose for car insurance just in exchange for Amazon vouchers – our complete car insurance guide has you covered.

Use cashback sites

If you’ve never done it before, read our guide to cashback to find out how you can make money back on almost any online purchase. It sounds too good to be true, but it really isn’t!
Now, this isn’t a total freebie, as cashback usually requires you to buy something to earn it – but if you’re shopping anyway, then it’s a good way to get something back.
Users of the two biggest cashback sites, Quidco and TopCashback, can withdraw earnings as Amazon vouchers – and you’ll even earn a bonus for doing so.
At the time of writing, if you choose to cash out with an Amazon voucher you’ll get 1% extra with free Quidco and TopCashback accounts (compared to if you withdrew your earnings via bank transfer).

Do easy online tasks
Searching the web, watching videos, downloading apps – these are things you’re probably doing every day anyway, but with Swagbucks you can earn Amazon vouchers at the same time.
We briefly mentioned Swagbucks earlier, but there’s a lot more to it than just using search engines. It’s primarily a survey site, but you can earn Swagbucks (or SBs) for all kinds of things, including entering competitions, signing up to other products and watching videos.
The SBs you earn can then be exchanged for gift cards or cash.
849 Swagbucks will get you a £5 Amazon voucher, and these will stack up quicker than you think! Installing and playing an app can earn you thousands of SBs, while simply referring a friend to the site will earn you 300 SBs a go.

Spot derelict properties

This is such a strange idea, but it’s a good chance to get your hands on a £20 Amazon voucher.
YouSpotProperty
The site, YouSpotProperty, will pay you for finding derelict or empty properties. If you find an address that hasn’t been spotted before, and it meets their criteria, they’ll give you a £20 Amazon (or M&S) voucher.
When you spot a property, all you have to do is note down the address, take a few photos and then upload it to the YouSpotProperty website.
The best news is that if the company behind the website buy the property you’ve found, you’ll get 1% of that as well – so if a property sells for £200,000, you’ll get £2,000! Real potential for a decent payday for you, and they’ll also donate £500 to a charity located in the same borough as the house.
It may sound like a tricky task but, as a bonus, here are some ways to make some decent earnings when you’re walking around for a few hours or so.

Switch bank account or utility supplier
We must have said it a thousand times, but it’s worth saying again – loyalty almost never pays when it comes to your finances. It’s almost a guarantee that you’ll get a better deal by taking your business elsewhere, and sometimes you’ll even get a bonus for doing so.
As we explain in our guide to the best student bank accounts, some banks offer an Amazon voucher as an incentive for you to sign up.
But beware: often the best accounts are those with the biggest interest- and fee-free overdrafts, and it’s best not to make your decision based on who’s offering which freebie.
When it comes to utility providers (so broadband, gas and electricity and even your mobile phone contract), the deals offering Amazon vouchers are a little more straightforward.
Just subtract the value of the voucher from the total lifetime cost of the contract (the number of months it runs for, multiplied by the monthly cost, plus any extra setup costs) and you’ll see whether the voucher actually makes it cheaper than the deals offered by their competitors.
