The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate (Post-Doctoral Research Fellow) with an MD or PhD. This position will be in a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded laboratory directed by Dr. Brant Isakson. The lab focuses on intercellular communication within the vasculature, spanning molecular studies to whole animal research, including translational projects. The lab employs various techniques and specialized mouse models, with current research emphasizing the cell biology of pannexin channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in full-time research or scholarship at UVA.

- Work under the supervision of a senior scholar, with opportunities to publish research findings.
- Participate in multiple lab projects, contribute to study reports for sponsors, and assist in writing papers and grant applications.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) at the time of hire.
- Experience: Preferred experience in various cell biology techniques, murine disease models, and knowledge of large pore channels.
Physical Demands
- Primarily sedentary work involving extensive use of desktop computers.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings and programs.
