In this role, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of surgical patients. You’ll collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide a seamless and efficient surgical experience.

What You’ll Do

Pre-Operative Care

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, gathering medical history and vital signs.
  • Explain surgical procedures to patients and their families, addressing their questions and concerns with clarity and empathy.
  • Assist with preparing the operating room, ensuring a sterile environment and proper equipment functionality.

Intra-Operative Care

  • Scrub and gown sterilely to participate directly in surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and ensure they have the necessary instruments and supplies readily available.
  • Monitor the patient’s vital signs and maintain a sterile field throughout the surgery.
  • Document the surgical process meticulously, ensuring accurate records for future reference.

Post-Operative Care

  • Assist with patient transfer to the recovery room and monitor their vital signs as they emerge from anaesthesia.
  • Administer pain medication and other post-operative care as prescribed by the physician.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-surgical care instructions and answer any questions they may have.

You’re a Perfect Fit If You Have

  • A valid RN license (Texas).
  • A minimum of 2 years of OR experience in the United States (experience in plastics, ophthalmology, oral maxillofacial, and NICU cases is a plus; scrubbing experience is highly desirable).
  • Strong clinical judgement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are honed in a fast-paced OR environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • The ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work independently while also being a team player.
  • Proficiency in computer applications commonly used in healthcare settings (e.g., EMR, scheduling software, electronic documentation systems).
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in OR nursing practices.
