A’Ibom Gets 6 New Millionaires

…as Mike Enyong splashes N6m start-up business grants on indigenes

In re-enforcement of his position that empowerment is the panacea for poverty alleviation in the State, the Member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt Hon. Michael Enyong has given out another bunch of 1 million naira each to 6 indigenes of the State as start-up business grants.

The grants totalling 6 million naira were presented in cheques to the beneficiaries at the Federal Lawmaker’s Uyo Residence, Wednesday.

In his remark at the empowerment event, Enyong otherwise known as Baba Ntan described the gesture as a strong commitment, which he owes his constituents and indigenes of the State at large.

He noted that the recent batch of his “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” empowerment scheme, coming few days after he had distributed 1 million naira respectively to 11 indigenes, is an emergency effort to hit, in no distant time, a target of 300 beneficiaries of the grant.

Ably represented by the former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Samuel Effanga, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals, who highlighted that entrepreneurship contributes significantly to the betterment of the living standards of the people, cuts down poverty level in the State and largely impacts on the economic growth of the State, made it known that these sort-after benefits which is his vision for the constituency and the state are key influences on his philanthropic gestures.

He promised to leave no stone unturned until hits his target of producing 300 millionaires.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Akanimo Udofia, lauded the Uyo Federal Lawmaker for the great push given to them in order to ensure they become self-reliant, pledging to make best use of the money.

In the eyes of the masses, Udofia revealed that Enyong is seen as a promise keeper, a true friend of the needy, an unconventional leader and development-oriented lawmaker, praying God to reward him.

Emmanuel Ukim, former PDP Chapter Chairman, Ibesikpo Asutan LG; and Obong Okon Nsentip, former PDP Chairman, Uyo Senatorial District.
