What is the best way to share audio on Zoom?
Zoom’s screen sharing functionality also includes the ability to share your computer’s audio.
Don’t worry if you’re on a call with smartphone users; Zoom allows you to share your computer’s audio without requiring something from meeting attendees. The first step in using Zoom to share audio is to join or create a meeting.
- Participate in a meeting.
- Click the Share screen at the bottom of your screen.
- Select a screen to share, and then at the bottom of the newly opened window, check the Share machine tone. After that, press Share.
- To stop sharing, go to the top of the screen being shared and press Stop sharing.
- Tap the Settings cog in the top-right corner of the Zoom app window from the home screen. After that, go to the Audio page.

Raise Your Hand Properly
You can have a question or answer for the host during Zoom meetings. In a virtual environment, however, it’s difficult to get their attention without distracting them or another participant. With the Raise Hand function, Zoom has provided a solution to this issue. This is how you do it.
- During a meeting, go to your video screen’s bottom options bar and press Reactions.
- There should be a separate button labeled Raise Your Hand under the reactions. A hand icon should appear in the upper left-hand corner of your screen after you select this.
- Return to Reactions and click the bottom button that now says Lower Your Hand to lower your hand. To do so, select this and delete the hand icon from your video.
How Does the Host Respond to Raised Hands?
After you’ve lifted your hand, there are a few things to remember about what the host sees on their end.
When you lift your hand, your name will appear higher on the list of participants for your host to see. They’ll be notified that you raised your hand as well.
The host has the option of allowing you to talk, in which case you will receive a confirmation to unmute your microphone. The host can see your name and profile picture until you are able to talk. Your name will be visible to other participants.
The host will mute your mic again while you’re speaking, preventing you from unmuting yourself.
Your hand may also be lowered by the host.
Is it impossible for you to raise your hand?
You may not be able to lift your hand in Zoom for two reasons:
- You may not have the right software version.
- Participants’ right to lift their hands was removed by the meeting moderator.
- Make sure you have Zoom version 5.4.7 or later to solve the first problem.
- The choice to lift your hand was not available in earlier versions.

- Version on the main page to check the Zoom version. If you don’t have the new edition, go to Zoom’s website and download it.
Contact the host to see if they’ll allow the feature if you have the correct version.
