Disable 3rd Party Add-ons

Third-party add-ons/plugins/extensions are supported by most web browsers. These add-ons enhance the functionality and features of the web browser. A malicious add-on or extension may cause Facebook to act strangely, and these add-ons give third parties access to your Facebook account information, allowing them to view, copy, and even edit it. When Facebook detects unusual activity on your account, it has the ability to restrict access.

As a result, removing the add-ons from your web browser can solve your issue. Follow the instructions unique to your browser to uninstall browser add-ons; for demonstration purposes, we’ll remove third-party extensions from Chrome.

  1. Open Chrome on your screen.
  2. Click the Hamburger Menu (the three dots) in the top right corner, then More Tools in the menu that appears, and then Extensions in the sub-menu that appears. Chrome Extensions should be open.
  3. Delete the extension you want to remove by clicking Remove at the bottom of the box. Under Extension Name, click Remove.
  4. By clicking Remove, you confirm your decision. Confirm the extension’s removal

If you’re not using Chrome, you’ll need to follow the steps for your particular browser. After removing the malicious add-ons, extensions, and other items, check to see if the issue has been resolved; if not, move on to the next solution.
