Full Job Description

The Markets Specialist will deliver both brief and in-depth analyses utilising the MAP’s extensive access to supervisory intelligence, data, and experts within the FRS. The analytical focus spans a broad range of potential risks faced by LISCC Supervision firms, including credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks. Therefore, the analytical process prioritises thorough engagement with experts throughout LISCC Supervision and the FRS. Analytical findings are integrated into various internal processes to guide risk prioritisation, examination, and policy efforts within the LISCC Programme.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyse financial and nonfinancial risks in collaboration with FRS colleagues, utilizing the MAP’s access to supervisory intelligence and data.
  • Guide intelligence gathering efforts at LISCC Supervision firms to enhance the identification, understanding, and response to emerging risks.
  • Present and share analytical work regularly to enhance risk identification, examination, and policy efforts.
  • Contribute to MAP Core Team initiatives across various areas such as technology, communication, and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a broad network of contacts within LISCC supervision and the FRS to inform emerging risk analysis and its impact on supervisory activities.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex topics and assimilate new information effectively.
  • Strong written, verbal, and data communication skills, capable of synthesising complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, fostering influential working relationships with colleagues across geographical locations and FRS functions.
  • Strong organisational and self-management skills, demonstrating initiative, producing high-quality results under tight time constraints, and adapting to evolving priorities.
  • A master’s degree or several years of relevant financial industry, economics, or regulatory work experience preferred; other qualifications such as CFA also considered.
  • Deep or broad knowledge of banking-related risks and operating environments, including lending, capital markets, investment management, or other activities.
  • Familiarity with bank supervision concepts related to capital, liquidity, governance and controls, and resolution and recovery.
  • Availability for extended work hours and occasional travel, including overnight stays.
