Engr. Don Bassey Shadecover Emerges the Authentic New Political Leader of PDP Ubium North Ward 2

…as Stakeholders Reconcile Political Interest

Engr. Don Bassey popularly known as Shadecover has been nominated and confirmed as the political leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ubium North Ward 2 in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

His nomination came subsequently after a unanimous agreement within the political stakeholders of the Ward who resolved to reconcile their political differences among some factions of the party.

Presenting Engr. Don Bassey to the Chapter Chairman of the PDP, Nsit Ubium LGA, Hon. Edet Inyang, the Ward Chairman of Ubium North Ward 2, Hon. Imaekop James said that stakeholders of Ubium North Ward 2 have unanimously accepted the choice of Engr. Don Bassey as their new Political Leader.

He stressed that his nomination is based on his numerous contributions to the economic and Socio-Political development of the party mostly at the grassroots. He said that Engr. Don is capable, available and accessible to lead and build the party at the grassroots to deliver PDP in future elections.

Hon. James advised the new Political Leader to carry every stakeholders along in the programmes and activities of the party as agreed by different political factions for the political growth and expansion of PDP.

He encouraged all the political stakeholders to cooperate with the new Political Leader and to remain faithful and steadfast to PDP for more reward. He however congratulated Engr. Bassey and assured him maximum cooperation, conducive environment and wished him success in his future political career.

Receiving Engr. Don Bassey at Nsit Ubium Party office, the Chapter Chairman of the Party, Hon. Edet Inyang congratulated Engr. Don Bassey on his new responsibility and appreciated Political stakeholders of Ubium North Ward 2 for their display of maturity in reconciling their political differences amicably.

He advised Engr. Bassey to collaborate with all political stakeholders in political activities and programmes at the grassroots. He urged all party stakeholders to respect one another, saying that everyone is needed to win election for the party.

Also speaking, the Uyo Senatorial District Chairman of PDP, Hon. Ibanga Brownson commended the Stakeholders for coming together despite the little tussle arising from different political interest. He advised the Ward Chairman to always consult stakeholders and put their contributions into consideration to avoid further crises in the party.

Hon. Brownson congratulated Engr. Bassey and urged him to collaborate with the Ward Chairman, appointees from the Ward and stakeholders in building the party, insisting that every hand is needed for PDP to win elections.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Don Bassey, a member Akwa Ibom State Board of Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy thanked the stakeholders of Ubium North Ward 2 for finding him worthy to be their leader and promised not to disappoint them.

He assured to work with every Political Stakeholders and members of PDP in Ubium North Ward 2 for the success of PDP in all future elections. “There should be no cause for alarm. We will all lead together and all stakeholders will be duly informed for meetings and political activities and programmes of the party. By God’s grace we will join hands to deliver our Ward for PDP for continuous development of the Ward.

Stakeholders from Ubium North Ward 2 who were present at the event were former Chairman of Nsit Ubium, LGA, Hon. Dr Dora Bassey, Councillor representing Ubium North Ward 2 in Nsit Ubium Legislative Council, Hon. Udeme Friday Jonny, Hon. Supervisory Councillor, Nsit Ubium LGC, Hon. Ubong Bassey, former Leader Nsit Ubium Legislative Council, Hon. Manasseh Williams, Ward Youth Leader, Comr. Friday Udo Akpan, Chapter representative, Comr. Agustine Williams, assistant Ward secretary, Mr Bassey Okon, Monday Williams, Comr. Saviour Williams, Hon. Aniefiok Jonny, Hon. Esen Ibiok Asuquo, party executive, women and youth of People’s Democratic Party in Ubium North Ward 2.
