How can candidates correct errors in their JAMB registration after submission, and what are the required steps?

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) provides an opportunity for candidates who made mistakes during their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration to correct their data. This process ensures that personal and academic details are accurate before the examination and admission process begins.

What Errors Can Be Corrected?

Candidates can make corrections to the following details:

  • Name (spelling errors, wrong arrangement; complete name change is not allowed)
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • State or Local Government Area (LGA) of Origin
  • Institution and Course selection

Errors That Cannot Be Corrected

  • Complete name change (e.g., from Chika to Emeka)
  • Email address (Once registered, it cannot be modified)

Steps to Correct Errors in JAMB Registration

JAMB allows candidates to correct errors through two primary methods: online via the JAMB portal or by visiting an accredited CBT center.

1. Online Correction (Applicable for Gender and State/LGA Changes)

Candidates can correct errors in their State/LGA of Origin and Gender online by following these steps:

  11. JAMB will review and approve the correction, and you will receive a notification when the update is completed

2. CBT Centre Correction (Applicable for Name, DOB, Course/Institution, and Other Changes)

For Name, Date of Birth, Institution, or Course changes, candidates must visit a JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) center.

Steps:

  1. Locate an accredited JAMB CBT center near you
  2. Request a Data Correction Form
  3. Specify the details that need to be corrected
  4. Pay the required service fee (₦2,500) through JAMB’s official payment channels
  5. Provide supporting documents (e.g., birth certificate for Date of Birth correction)
  6. Review the corrected information carefully before submitting
  7. The JAMB official will process your request, and once approved, the changes will be reflected in your profile

Important Notes for Candidates

  • JAMB does not allow online correction for some details; candidates must visit an accredited CBT center for certain changes.
  • Ensure that all details match official documents such as NIN and O’Level results to avoid discrepancies.
  • Course and institution changes should be made only after confirming eligibility for the new selection.
  • Data correction is time-sensitive, and candidates should apply as early as possible to avoid delays.
  • The deadline for JAMB data correction has not yet been announced, but candidates should complete modifications promptly.

Mistakes during JAMB registration are common, but candidates can correct errors through the JAMB e-Facility Portal or an accredited CBT center. Following the right steps ensures that all details are accurate, preventing future issues with exams or admissions. If unsure about the process, it is advisable to seek assistance from an accredited center to avoid further mistakes.

For official updates and further details, candidates should visit JAMB’s website and social media channels regularly.
